More simple and less aesthetically elaborated than Drowning PrincessUn film de Vacances (Movie of the Vacations) is a fast done and lively documentary. Directed by Jean-Frédéric Chevallier and produced by Sukla Bar Chevallier, the shooting and editing processes took place in two days, on 2nd and 3rd March 2009. At the end of the second day, a screening was organized for the children of the two neighbouring villages where the work had been done: Morapai (Christian) and Hatnagar (Hindu) in South 24 Paraganas District, West Bengal. Duration: 43 minutes.

Part of these images was after used in A breaking down and a multiplication of tissue, a stage work directed by Jean-Frédéric Chevallier and Matthieu Mével in Mexico in September and October 2009.

A BREAKING DOWN AND A MULTIPLICATION OF TISSUE [EXTRACTS] - 9:02 minutes

To create A breaking down and a multiplication of tissue, Jean-Frédéric Chevallier invited a writer, Matthieu Mével, but not to write a text to be represented on stage. He invited him to produce a stage work with the idea of breaking down the text and its signification. What happens then? There is the genuine desire to present only loved materials: Matthieu Mével's poem, Jean-Frédéric Chevallier's videos, Sandra Goméz's dancing body, Roberto Gonzalez's voice, Rogelio Sosa's sound textures. In this performing act, words become poetry, images look to cinema and recitation is like a singing. A breaking down and a multiplication of tissue works in between theatre, dance, video and music. It leads the audience to a journey where the laws of narration disappear in front of the joys of sensation. In fact, there is nothing to understand. What is needed is mostly to let oneself go on in the middle of words flows, Indian women faces, a Colombian dancer’s grace, a Mexican singer’s sensibility, electronic music sounds. It is an invitation to enjoy the surprising singularities producing by all these unexpected encounters.

Theatre Juan Ruiz de Alarcón, National University Cultural Centre (UNAM), Mexico City, From 5th September till 25th October 2009.
